What is wellness coaching?
Coaching is an individualized, client-focused experience aimed at helping you make the changes you need to make to realize your wellness goals.
What are some examples of why I would meet with a wellness coach?
You are overwhelmed with the growing list of medical recommendations following a diagnosis and you don’t know where to start. You want to take control of your wellness. You know what you need to do to feel better, but you need motivation and accountability to increase your chances of success. Sample areas include allergen-free diets and cooking, weight management, healthier eating, physical activity, or sleep.
Do I need a wellness coach even if I don’t have a chronic illness?
Chronic Wellness Coaching specializes in helping individuals with chronic illness. I also help those at risk of chronic illness such as Type-II diabetes, or those with a family history of auto-immune conditions. Overcoming chronic illness requires holistic lifestyle change. Anyone who wants more energy and to live their life with vitality is someone that can benefit from Chronic Wellness Coaching.
Why 6 months?
All my programs are for a minimum of 6-months, with an option to extend. While it may take 21 days to establish a habit, research shows that lifestyle change takes 6 months. That has been my experience. Chronic Wellness Coaching doesn’t feed you every change in the first session, but helps you implement and adjust to a few changes over time until you are a new and vital you. Six months is recommended for life-long change.
How many sessions do I get?
You will meet with Laurie 12 times during the 6-month program. All sessions are one-on-one and may be held in person or over the phone. Each session will last 30-50 minutes, and is dependent upon the program selected.
Where are your services available?
Chronic Wellness Coaching services are available anywhere as long as you have an internet connection or phone line. Cooking classes, health food, farmer’s market tours and other special events are only available in the Washington D.C. area at this time. Teleclasses, webinars and e-books are planned for later in 2011.
